As part of our expansion, we are seeking qualified, passionate, and results-oriented individuals to fill the position of Extension Service Officer.

Job Summary

The Extension Service Officer will provide technical agricultural advisory services to farmers and agribusiness clients financed by the institution. The successful candidate will support clients in adopting improved agricultural practices, enhancing productivity, managing production risks, and strengthening their capacity to operate profitable and sustainable agricultural enterprises.

The role requires regular field engagement with farmers, Agri-preneurs, and all beneficiaries of the organisation's loan product.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Provide technical advisory services to farmers on crop, livestock, fisheries, and agribusiness production.
• Conduct regular farm visits to monitor agricultural activities and provide extension support.
• Facilitate farmer training programmes on good agricultural practices, climate-smart agriculture, farm management, financial literacy, and enterprise development.
• Support agricultural loan appraisal through farm assessments and enterprise evaluations.
• Monitor loan utilization and identify production risks that may affect repayment.
• Mobilize and strengthen farmer groups, cooperatives, and producer organizations.
• Facilitate access to agricultural inputs, markets, and other support services.
• Collect field data and prepare extension activity reports.
• Promote adoption of sustainable and productivity-enhancing farming technologies.
• Work closely with credit and field teams to improve client performance and portfolio quality.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

• A Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agricultural Extension, Animal Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
• A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in agricultural extension, agribusiness development, rural development, agricultural finance, or related fields.
• Practical experience working with smallholder farmers and rural communities.
• Knowledge of agricultural value chains and production systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data collection tools.
