The LAPO Community Campaign For Cancer Control (LAPO-C4) In Nigeria (Since 2016)
The LAPO-C4 is an innovative community-based intervention aimed at creating awareness on cancer prevention, screening for early detection and control. The disease has become one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in Nigeria with over 100 persons diagnosed every year out of which about 80% die due to ignorance.
Integration of Health Education and Microfinance Services
The integration project provides an opportunity for clients of LAPO Microfinance Bank to also benefit from health and social intervention services delivered by Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) during Union and Branch Council Meetings.

The project is implemented across the country with health staff deployed to sensitize clients on malaria, family planning methods, pregnancy care, cervical cancer, hepatitis-B, child immunization, diarrhoea in children prevention, HIV/AIDS and the dangers of self-medication, etc.
Strengthening Integrated Delivery Of HIV/AIDS Services (SIDHAS) Project
In April 2014, LAPO signed a contractual agreement with the Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) to carry out community-based intervention on Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV/AIDS Services (SIDHAS) in Edo Central Senatorial District of Edo State.

SIDHAS was a USAID-funded, family-centred community-led intervention project that engaged with the communities to take action to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS; provide care and track the welfare of People Living With HIV (PLHIV) including Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC). The project enabled greater access to health care and support at all levels.

Videos

In this video, Victor Ehigiamusoe, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Transformation at LAPO, shares what sustainable development truly looks like when it reaches the people who need it most and why LAPO remains committed to building stronger communities across Nigeria.

Watch and be inspired.
World Malaria Day
In commemoration of World Malaria Day, LAPO took to Evbomodu Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Benin City, Edo State with free health screenings and referrals, reaching 108 people on the ground.

This year's theme; Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can, Now We Must, is a call that resonates deeply with us. Malaria is preventable. Malaria is treatable. And every community deserves access to the information and care that can protect them.

At LAPO, community health outreach is part of who we are and we will keep showing up.
The Pineapple Juice Factory in Ukpenu-Ekpoma
In 2018, LAPO partnered with the Japanese Government to establish a pineapple juice processing factory in Ukpenu-Ekpoma, Edo State, to reduce post-harvest waste and improve local livelihoods.

Today, the factory provides farmers with a steady market for their produce, creates jobs, and turns previously wasted pineapples into economic value. It is a strong example of how practical partnerships can drive meaningful community development.
